The steel industry will implement six mandatory national standards

The steel industry is an important basic industry of the national economy. Recently, six mandatory national standards for the steel industry were released, involving three standards each for steel bars and steel wire ropes, and will be implemented on September 25.

The six key product mandatory national standards include "Steel for Reinforced Concrete Part 1: Hot-rolled Plain Steel Bars" "Steel for Reinforced Concrete Part 2: Hot-rolled Ribbed Steel Bars" "Cold-rolled Ribbed Steel Bars" "For Elevators Wire ropes" "Wire ropes for ropeways" and "Wire ropes for mine hoisting".

Recently, at the promotion meeting for mandatory national standards for six key products of steel bars and steel wire ropes, Wei Hong, deputy director of the Standards and Technology Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, said that mandatory national standards are to protect personal safety, safeguard public interests, and promote high-tech development. The cornerstone of quality development is the “bottom line” and “red line” of national security. The issuance and implementation of the six mandatory national standards will further improve the quality level of relevant products, enhance intrinsic safety performance, support the implementation of product production licenses, and promote equipment updates and trade-in of consumer goods.

Zhang Haideng, deputy director of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in March this year, the State Council issued the "Action Plan for Promoting Large-Scale Equipment Renewal and Consumer Goods Replacement", which clearly proposed to adhere to the guidance of standards and orderly improvement, and to accelerate the formulation and revision of standards in the fields of environmental protection and safety in combination with the actual development of the industry. The six national standards for key products of steel bars and wire ropes involve buildings, elevators, ropeways, mines and other fields. The implementation of the standards will play the role of a "threshold" for mandatory national standards.

Zheng Jingxu, deputy director of the Science and Technology and Environmental Protection Department of the China Iron and Steel Association, believes that standardization is an important task of the steel industry and a long-term focus of the China Iron and Steel Association. The release and implementation of the six strong standards is an important measure to achieve "accelerating the construction of a standard system to promote high-quality development", which will play an important role in promoting high-quality development in the field of steel bars and wire ropes.

Zhang Longqiang, secretary of the Party Committee and dean of the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute, said that steel bars, as the skeleton material of concrete structures, are widely used in various fields such as houses, bridges, railways, roads, and tunnels. Steel wire ropes for elevators, ropeways, mines, and hoisting are representative products of important steel wire ropes, which play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of engineering equipment and personal safety. The release of the above-mentioned national mandatory standards is of great significance for upgrading the safety standards of key products such as steel bars and steel wire ropes, building a solid bottom line for safe production, promoting equipment updates, and protecting the safety of people's lives and property.
